Here's another family pic taken against the back window of Grandma Sleaford's at No.7 Ridding Terrace in 1956. L-R my dad George, me (age 6) my sister (5), and our cousin Michael held by our mum (Joan). The bird cage reminds me that my mum had wanted a budgie for ages and one afternoon we traipsed all the way from Vicarage St down to Alfred St South where she bought one. I don't know if it was a pet shop or not, but I think I remember us going into somebody's house for it. Maybe someone on here will remember whether there was a "budgie breeder" in Alfred St South in 1955/56? (Terry Sleaford)
Backyard of 7 Ridding Terrace (off Wellington St) 1944. My Grandad Harold Sleaford in his wartime Special Constable uniform. My uncle Ray at the back and my uncle John on the far left. The two girls are Maureen & Sylvia, daughters of my aunt Jess, who was the eldest of four children. My dad George was next eldest & he would have been somewhere in Europe with the tanks of the Sherwood Rangers at the time. I think my Grandma took her shoes off to take the photo (see bottom right)!
