Tony-Ann Miller created this group. One year later he posted on the first anniversary: "" HAPPY BIRTHDAY" our St. Ann's Well Rd. Pre. Demolition (1970) Site, is one year old to-day. It started with three friends and one photograph... a year later we have a superb site with 136 members from all parts of the world. It is a lasting testament to growing up in St. Ann's with lots of photographs, historical documents, map's and most importantly numerous personal memories of living in St. Ann's Well Rd before the demolition...Thank you all for your support and your marvellous contributions,".

A Statement from Joint Administrators (Tony Miller and Mavis Baker)
???? Unsure about what this site is about, how it got started, what the general guidelines might be for sharing on this site? We hope that this statement by the administrators will answer most of your questions or clear up any ambiguity. With an ever expanding membership (now 781) it is timely for us to ensure that everyone is in happy accord ....Once you have read the statement...you might wish to 'like'
.........................................
The main objective of the site:
The site is about celebrating what we had, where we grew up and the people and places that were part of our lives.
• This site is: none political, racists, or sexist, no offensive language etc... no advertising.
• The site reflects the St Ann’s Well Rd area prior to the great demolition 1970.
• Our members share photographs, documents, historical information and poems, along with all of their personal memories of growing up in the St. Ann's Well Rd area prior to the demolition in 1970. The City of Nottingham is also encouraged because that's where we perhaps went to work, go shopping and where we socialized.
• All stories, photographs, etc should be relevant to the period prior to 1970 so that we can all see how the area we knew developed and evolved from an historical point of view. (The demolition stage with boarded up, part demolished streets are discouraged – these can be seen onhttp://www.picturethepast.org.uk/ site if members wish to look at them). If we start posting post 1970’s images (of which there are potentially hundreds) our site could get swamped with them – far better to track down those rare snaps in black and white either online or in the family archives!
• The memories, photos and documents should thus reflect the area when it was a dynamic thriving community, (Shops, Schools , Churches, the people, buildings and unique characters which made it what it was) - and how we used to live and work in the area.

31st December 2011 – Our St .Ann’s Well Road Pre. Demolition (1970) Online Community facebook site was founded by Tony Miller, with three friends and one photograph. Soon seven people -all ex St Ann's Well Rd who were born about the same time and who lived mostly in the same area prior to the 1970 demolition - were active on the site.
Similar childhood memories including schools, churches, and youth organisations were shared. It is these memories to which the site was originally devoted, - Tony’s personal memories, our personal memories, our parents memories and the history of St. Ann's Well Rd prior to the demolition.
The ethos of the site was now being readily embraced by new members. Within the first year the site had grown to 136 members from all parts of the world.
1st March 2014 - Our site, now with over 700 members, continues to thrive. Its pictures, documents and memories of the old St. Ann's Well Road area are now stored for ever on the World Wide Web.
Our site has become a lasting testament to growing up in St. Ann's with its photographs, historical documents, maps and most importantly numerous personal memories of living in the St. Ann's Well Road area before the demolition.
Please continue to share your memories of living in St. Ann's prior to 1970 with photos of the time, documents and photographs, including photographs of Nottingham and it's wonderful buildings....taken prior to the demolition 1970 and as far back as you want to go.

Our group has a very specific focus that has ensured its success to date.

PICTURE THE PAST
Tony-Ann Miller
Admin · 21 February 2012I was a little concerned with several photographs being downloaded from the picturethepast.org.uk to our site just in case we were infringing on any copyright regulations. I contacted there H/O and spoke to a Mr. Nick Tomlinson who heads up the department and asked him to take a look on line at our site for his comments. Pleased to report that he is comfortable about the pics being downloaded and can see that there is no commercial gain intended ,and it is just for our general interest and enjoyment of the historic time of our childhood in St Ann's. However he would appreciate an acknowledgement to "Picture the Past" for our source of information, for the pictures we have already downloaded and others we might want to in the future. They have a really great and interesting website where pictures are available for purchase. So on our behalf "Many Thanks" Picture the Past, for your your continued support and understanding. Cheers. Tony.
