Flewitt St (Alfred St South to Young St)
......"I was born at no. 8 Flewitt Street, 1944. Old tin bath on the yard wall, we kept a few chicken until Xmas, Billy Boy was the cock. Slept in the attic when I had chicken pox. Tiny scullery, mam struggling to cook in it. Outside toilet with torn up newspaper to use...............lots of spiders, we didn't waste much time in there....And collecting horse manure off the cobbled streets to put on the back 'garden'. Dad called it HOSS MUCK.
