Military History
He served with 2nd Bn, Dorset Regiment, which was sent to Mesopotamia. Suffering with fever he was sent to one of the seven general hospitals on the banks of the Tigris, but died on 22/05/1916. He was buried in Amara War Cemetery, but as a result of deterioration of the headstones his name is now commemorated on a screen wall.

He was the son of Samuel and Sarah Ann Walker and the husband of Sarah Elizabeth Walker of 57 Corporation Road, St Ann's, Nottingham His younger brother, Corporal Frank Walker, served in Royal Engineers (Postal Section) and was killed a month after Clarence on 30 May 1917 (Abbeville Communal Cemetery Extension). Clarence's father died on 2 March 1930 aged 77 and his mother the following year on 18 April 1931 aged 71.

In 1901 he was an embroiderer lace warehouseman and was still in this occupation at the time of the 1911 census.

John Henry Derrick (8 December 1891 – April 1938) was an English professional footballer who made over 130 appearances as a forward in the Football League for Nottingham Forest. The 1911 census has him at 60 Corporation Rd aged 19 (pro footballer)
In June 1915, nine months after the outbreak of the First World War, Derrick enlisted as a private in the Leicestershire Regiment.[2] He was wounded in Mesopotamia in April 1916
