Cemetery: NOTTINGHAM CHURCH CEMETERY Additional Information: Son of Jim and Florrie Renshaw, of Nottingham; husband of Ethel Millicent Parier (formerly Renshaw), of 8, Rose St., Dame Agnes St., St. Ann's Well Rd., Nottingham. At the time of his death, Harold lived at 3 Chancery Place, Broad Marsh Military History Harold appears to have only recently begun his training when he was killed and may well have been conscripted early in 1916 Harold Renshaw was one of three fatalities when Zeppelin L17, commanded by Kapitanleutnant Hermann Kraushaar, bombed Nottingham on 24th September 1916. An incendiary bomb came through his roof and landed on him whilst he was in bed. This set fire to his clothing, causing extensive burns. He died the same day at the General Hospital. His wife, who was in bed next to him, was totally uninjured. His death certificate lists his cause of death as 'Burns by incendiary bomb dropped from an enemy airship and thereby murdered by some person or persons unknown' He is buried in the Church (Rock) Cemetery in Nottingham Employment/Hobbies Prior to enlisting, Harold worked as a labourer at the gas company.
