In 1911 Rose added the information to the census that she had had eight children born alive of whom eight still survived By 1901 the family was living at 102 St Ann's Well Road, St Ann's; . In 1911 Rose was the head of household, although she completed the census that she was still married, and living at 1 Ritson Terrace, Hawkridge Street, Employment/Hobbies In 1911 at the age of 13 he was a book binder but when he joined the Royal Navy two years later he was a telegraph messenger with the GPO. Extra Information CWGC incorrectly gives his age at death as 18; see notice in local paper (below) and DOB/age from RN records. Nottingham Post notice (abridged) 25 February 1915. Military History 'D' Bty 70th Bde Harold Holland MM & Bar enlisted at Nottingham. He landed in France on 8th July 1915. His Military Medal award was reported in the London Gazette 18th June 1917 and the Bar in the London Gazette 23rd August 1917. Faubourg D’Amiens Cemtery Arras Grave Reference VI F 45 Extra Information It was reported on 23rd December 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post Harold Holland’s Military Medal & Bar had been presented to his grandmother. ‘POSTHUMOUS HONOUR FOR NOTTINGHAM SOLDIER. The Military Medal and bar have been awarded to Driver Harold E. Holland, Royal Field Artillery, of 3, Ritson-Terrace, Hawkridge Street, Nottingham, who was killed in action on September 3rd last. [sic] He was 23 years of age.
