Family History
William married Kate Smith at Nottingham 29/11/1900. He was the father of Gertrude Annie, William, Horace Edward, Arthur and Jack Ayres. In 1901 they lived on Erye Yard Sneinton Road and later at 5 Claremont Villas Rookwood Street Hungerhill Road St Ann's (both Nottingham). Kate later lived on Coppice Road St Ann's Well Road Nottingham.
Military History:
He was 5 ' 4" tall and weighed 139 lbs when he enlisted in November 1914. He died from a grenade wound received to his left leg 16/4/1916., died of wounds 7/6/1916
