Family History He was the son of Thomas and Mary Boyington of 12 Jackson Terrace Simkin Street Nottingham. He was the husband of Alice Boyington and the father of Alfred, Louisa, George and Nellie Boyington. In 1911 they lived at 8 Rock Terrace Lower Eldon Street Nottingham and later at 15 Simon's Terrace Westminster Street Nottingham. St Mary's parish register implies that Boyington's son Alfred was killed with the Royal Navy in November 1916 but CWGC has no record. COTTON, JAMES
Rank Private Service number 72614 Military Unit 25th Bn Durham Light Infantry Family History James Cotton married Ethel Gretton in 1903 at Nottingham. They had four children one dying in infancy. In 1911 the family lived at 6, Simons Terrace, Westminster Street, St Ann’s, Nottingham. Ethel was a lace hand and their children were Gladys Masie aged two, Beatrice Louisa one (she died in 1911 aged two). Employment/Hobbies He was a carter in 1911. Date of death 27 Jul 1917 Age at death 40 Memorial TARANTO TOWN CEMETERY EXTENSION Military History James Cotton enlisted at Nottingham and initially served (83448) in the York and Lancaster Regiment. He later transferred to the Durham Light Infantry and then to the 196th Labour Company. He is buried in Taranto Town Cemetery Extension. Served in the South African Campaign. Employment/Hobbies In 1911 he was a coal carter. Military History Edward Fowlds was a former regular soldier who had served in South Africa. He was killed fighting with 'C' Company. He is buried in Merville Communal Cemetery (grave ref. II.S.11). Extra Information Nottingham Post notice (abridged), 25 August 1915. Fowlds. Died of wounds, August 20th, Private E Fowlds, 2nd Leicestershire, Westminster Street, age 33. Wife and children.
