My beautiful mum (Pauline Roberts) had another wonderful recall memory today whilst watching the battle of the Jutland! She remembers writing letters during the second war to men serving on the front. The teachers at Sycamore Senior School set up a project saying that the men would love to hear from home and many of them didn't have family. She would have been 11/12 in about 1943. Me and Gill Pettit (Beverley Street), my best buddy and still is 52 years later, all dressed up for going out. Gill is wearing her new two piece suit from L.C. Deans and I have on my hand knitted sailor look made from Bellams Wool. Now what shall it be.... pictures, Locarno, or a frothy coffee at the Bohemian? We knew how to live!!!!
