HOBSON, Frank Harold
Rank Aircraftman 1St Class Service number F 2295 Date of death 13 Mar 1919 Age at death 24 Employment/Hobbies In 1911 he was a lace machine builder. Family History He was the son of William and Mary Ellen Hobson and the brother of John William, Emma, Mabel and Sydney Hobson. In 1901 and 1911 they lived at 47 Robin Hood Street St Ann's Nottingham. Military History Former Air mechanic 1st class Frank Harold Hobson, enlisted into the Royal Naval Air Service, on 27th November 1914. He was a former engineer machine constructor. He went out to the Dardenelles on 11th September 1915. He was admitted to hospital on 6th Ocotber 1915 HMS Grantally Castle suffering from Typhoid He was transferred via Malta to England. He had been invalided from the service on 12th March 1916 and died in Nottingham on 13th March 1919. Cemetery He is buried in Nottingham Church Cemetery. Remembered on

Nottingham 1871] and Louisa Kirk [née Elliott b. 1872 Nottingham].. In 1911 they lived at 84 Robin Hood Street Nottingham. Frank was a tool dealer’s assistant, Henry a lace machine fitter and Louisa a blouse machinist. Employment/Hobbies Walter was an apprentice printer in 1911. Extra Information MM Military Medal Sources: Commonwealth War Graves Commission Nottinghamshire Great War Roll of Honour He was awarded the Military Medal the citation for which reads : “For devotion to duty on 27th/28th May 1917, (Exeter Castle), in a raid on the Hair Pin Craters, he showed great bravery throughout, having entered the crater he led his men to the further objective. On returning to our lines he discovered that his officer [1] had been knocked down by a “Minnie” he immediately volunteered to go out and look for him. OWEN, ERNEST OWN
Rank Private Service number 2087 Date of death 13 Oct 1915 Age at death 19 Military Unit 1/7th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment) Employment/Hobbies Member of 2nd Nottingham Company Boys' Brigade (Dakeyne Street Lads' Club). In 1911 he was apprenticed to an ironmonger. When he enlisted in the Territorial Force in May 1914 his occupation was given as fitter. In 1911 the family was living at 14 Robin Hood Terrace, Nottingham. Owen was the first of the three brothers to be killed. Harry served with the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (35769 Private) and was killed on 14 April 1917 (Thiepval Memorial).
