He served in France from 27 October 1915. He was reported in the Red Cross Enquiry List of 1 September 1916 listed as missing 1 July 1916 following the attack on Gommecourt on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. Qualified for the 1915 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.
