Family History Horace Hurt was born in 1899 and was the son of the late George a drayman and Harriett Hurt née Brown of 15, Sprotborough Terrace, Salford St., Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 15 Sprotsborough Terrace, Nottingham Military History Private Horace Hurt, enlisted at Nottingham and he initially served with service number 4671 in the Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment before transferring to the 9th Battalion Machine Gun Corps, he was killed in action on 9th February 1918. He is buried in Bedford House Cemetery. (enclosure no 4, II.B.32).
