UNION ROAD VIRTUAL WALK
The Westminster Bank is just behind us - in this coloured image Union Rd is going off to the left - the red telephone box clearly visible.
Having walked up St Ann's Well Road as far as Commercial Square, we turn and look - seeing the Coachmakers Arms at the junction of Union Road. Looking west along Union Road from the junction with St Ann's Well Road the Victoria Station Clock Tower can be seen in the distance. The station opened in 1900, a year after the London to Sheffield main line services began to pass through the city.
Tony-Ann Miller Another great picture Mavis...what year do you think this photo was taken? My Dad had a sewing machine shop near the railings a bit up from the telephone box on the right .He was a distributor for German Phaff sewing machines.
Jimmy Tawse Where the car is parked bottom of union rd is where I lived Rushwoth terrace look close and you can see the back entry. Happy memories.

Jimmy Tawse Tony, next to our back yard entry was price&beals clothes shop then carnells butchers then tooleys(kids clothes) then turners bread shop then Sid plunket had a shop there but his mainshop was across the road Tooleys shop changed hands a few times it could have been a sewing machine shop but I can't remember it.
