Backyard of 284 St Anns Well Road - Tony Miller "Our Back Yard" (circa. 1953)..behind our old shop at 284 St. Ann's Well Rd, the back gate to the communal yard came out at the bottom of Meredith St. facing the General Havelock_.....along with "Our Toffee" what a dog....my dog...followed us every where, up on Coppice Rec. up to the Pad's and up to school.....in the corner was the back gate...like a door on it's side was...Exton's the sweet shop back....we used to dread it if our ball went over...we used to wait until she was serving in the shop before we lifted the gate to retrieve the ball... Memories...

Me and boys best friend Nugent St backyard 1961. She was a lovely terrier. She came home with Dad and Uncle one Sunday dinner after a few pints at either the Havelock or Scots Greys.......Richard Greenhalgh

my mum and her sister Lilian with their dog Bitsie, it had so many litters the locals used to change the first letter of it's name, Westminster St.or Reform Terrace, this must have been about the time they lost their Mam.1936. (Elaine Fox)

my family lived on Norland Road and Meredith Street (amongst others), with the surnames of Parr and Berry. My dad was Gerald (although he boxed as Tom Berry) and his brother, Maurice. I remember going to the house of my grandad Arthur Berry on Norland Road, eating roe and chips and drinking Camp Coffee. And also to Aunt Eliza's on Meredith Street where an aspidistra dominated her room. Dad and Maurice were a little 'undisciplined', and were frequently hopping over the wall of the corner shop to pilfer oranges. The photo is dad aged about 14.
