Very sorry to say my eldest brother Bill died this week end age 94. We used to live at Lomas Street in the old St Anns District. He served in the navy on the M.T.Bs mainly going across the North Sea to Norway dropping and picking up people and was awarded the D.S.M. for baby sitting a live round that was in the fuel tank full of fuel of his M.T.B718 from the North sea back to Portsmouth. His C.O. was Guy Hamilton the director of early James Bond films they remained good friends long after the war. R.I.P. Brother - Jim Cartwright |
