Here is a photo of me aged seven (second row from the top, fifth from the left) from April 1970 at The Elms junior school. I can't believe that all these children here are now over fifty... I remember our teacher, Miss Stevens (on the right), and the teacher's assistant on the left, who's name I unfortunately can't remember.
Can anyone recognise themselves/family members/friends here?

LACE WORK........A lot of our grandmother's took in lacework and there have been some nice memories already posted. Today I went to The Loom Restaurant 3 - 5 High Pavement I think it used to be the Lace Hall. They have a huge jacquard loom in the basement which will eventually be on display to the public. I am not advertising here........wouldn't dream of it. There was lace on the loom, (Leavers Loom?) the sort that my Grandma Fox used separate by pulling the threads, she was always at it, even when you visited, piles of the white stuff all over the room. I was tempted to lean over the machine and pull the same threads. Does anyone have any history of 3-5 High Pavement, who occupied it before the Lace Hall and further back?

Good evening all. It is my great hope that someone can assist me. Taking the photos from Picture the Past out of the equation. Does anyone have any images of Beacon Street from the late 1950s upto its demolition. And of interest does anyone have any images of the Greyfrairs Pipe Band from the 1960s/1970s. My Uncle used to play in the band, and I'm trying to track down any photos of him in the line-up. Many thanks in advance Sean

3 October 2016Talking with Polly and Cassie, has brought back so many memories of when we lived on Dame Agnes street. I was thinking who would have lived in the houses between us. There was an older couple next door,(Messum??) they had a caravan at Chapel and we used that a few times, there was also Wendy Grimes, she took me ice-skating and Jackie Drew, does anyone remember them?
