David West - I was at the Bilateral and left in the winter of sixty two; it was an experimental idea that did not succeed. Each year had a grammar type stream, named T1, the T standing for technical and for which, you had to pass the eleven plus. There were then four other classes I think, with the top one named T2, which was like an ordinary A stream. By some fluke, I passed the exam and ended up in T1; my greatest academic achievement by far. I then spent four miserable years in T1, until they finally admitted that it was not for me. Still, looking at the positive, everyone else was assured that at least they did not come bottom of the class!
